Charles Hilton Architects

170 Mason St, Greenwich, CT 06830

Based in Greenwich, CT, Charles Hilton Architects is a residential architecture firm that specializes in designing high quality and sustainable waterfront projects. Their work includes traditionally-inspired designs, grand landscape features, and detailed architectural interiors. These finished spaces are beautiful, practical, and are in harmony with the surrounding environment.

Charles Hilton Architects is an award-winning firm founded by Charles Hilton. His professional career began 37 years ago when he worked as an architectural apprentice in highschool. Hilton is an award-winning architect and a 2016 Inductee into the New England Home Design Hall of Fame. He has also made the Top 50 Coastal Architects List in Ocean Home’s Magazine for the past three years and won the national Palladio Award in 2011 for ‘Restoration and Renovation.’

The French Normandy Residence is a sample of Charles Hilton Architects’ work. The design was inspired by Marie Antoinette’s Petit Hamlet, located on the grounds of Versailles. This grand home mimics aspects of the French Norman Farmhouse and is tucked away in the estate’s lush green landscape. It features a steeply pitched, graduated slate roof and walls made with randomly laid terracotta brick tiles. These details give the home a unique profile that looks like it is directly out of a fairytale. The focal point of the house’s composition is the corner tower that is finished with a whimsical cat and mouse finial. This project was recognized as the HOBI Award 2013 winner, Project of the Year HOBI Award 2013, and was the winner of the Best Custom Home in the 6,000 to 7,000 SF HOBI Award 2013. It also won the Best Remodeled Home in the $2 Million to $3 Million category.

Joeb Moore & Partners

20 Bruce Park Ave, Greenwich, CT 06830

They explore this connection between the social and the physical by designing spaces that deepen the human experience and engage people with their surroundings. The firm is known for their inventive use of formal and spatial systems in their designs and details. Their portfolio is riddled with stunning, contemporary homes that are precise and creative. They couple these spaces with landscaping and furnishings that compliment the environment.

The firm was responsible for the work on the Noyes Transformation project. The team took the existing Eliot Noyes residence, built in the early 1950s, and preserved the experimental nature of the original home as well as extended the space. They exhibited elements of abstract formalism in their design. This project ended up winning the 2007 Custom Home DA Merit Award, the 2006 AIA CT Drawing Award, the 2004 AIA NE Merit Award, the 2003 AIA CT Honor Award, and the 2002 AIA CT Honor Award.

376 Pequot Ave, PO Box 61, Southport, CT 06890

With 39 years of experience under their belt, Austin Patterson Disston Architects (APD Architecture and Design), is an experienced, full-service, award-winning architectural and planning firm that services residents of Southport, Connecticut, and Quogue, New York. While their work experience is broad, their focus is on residential, hospitality, and private club projects. One example of APD Architecture and Design’s expertise is their Shore Colonial on the Sound project. The original, 20th century, waterfront property has a direct view of the New York skyline. Earlier remodels of this beautiful, 4,588 square foot home stripped much of the historic character of the house. To rectify this loss, the team added appropriate details such as paneled walls, pilasters, moldings, built-ins, and coffered ceilings to align the home to its original spirit. The interior was redesigned to comfortably hold family gatherings, offer spaces for active teens, and provide great views of the water beyond the home.

The Shippan Point Beach Cottage provides a glimpse into Robert A. Cardello Architects’ work in designing beautiful waterfront homes. It’s an extraordinary property with breathtaking views from the principal rooms of Long Island South and Sherwood Island. With its sky-blue stained shingles, leaded hand-blown glass, and white-painted shutters and window boxes, this residence is reminiscent of early 20th-century beach houses. Classical detailing, hand-scraped oak floors, beadboard paneling, and cork ceilings bring the entire look together to form a beautiful, inspiring home.
