The Best Construction Companies in Peninsula, California

8 Min Read

The Peninsula is located close to San Francisco and Silicon Valley, which gives it the name ‘San Francisco Peninsula.’ Some of the notable features of this area include its diverse dining options, its strong school systems—which include some of the best schools in California, and its many outdoor recreation spots. Though the Peninsula is a rather dense and urbanized area, there are multiple options for travel routes, like three interstate highways and 10 state routes. The consistent pleasant weather also makes it an easy place for visitors, residents, and commuters to go about and enjoy their daily activities.

For those who are interested in setting up an office or a new home in the Peninsula, we have created a list of the best construction companies in the area. These firms are well-known for their client-centric approaches and their dedication to providing quality service.

BCCI Construction

150 E Dana St. Mountain View, CA 94041

BCCI Construction is a San Francisco-based construction firm that has won numerous awards for its work, including the Construction Employers’ Association (CEA) President’s Safety Award, the CEA Excellence in Safety Award, and the 2020 ConstructSecure Platinum Safety Award. The firm is also on lists like Top Contractors by Engineering News-Record (ENR) and Best Places to Work by the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal. BCCI Construction attributes its success to its team’s commitment to quality and safety. The firm’s portfolio features projects for new construction, structural renovation, historic restoration, seismic upgrade, and tenant improvements.

Fish & Richardson brought BCCI Construction in as the general contractor for its Silicon Valley office. The space is located on two floors in a mid-rise building. BCCI Construction used a design-assist approach to accommodate the extensive scope and budgetary requirements of the project. Collaborating closely with the client led to a more cost-effective result, as well as workable and field-based solutions. The office features private offices, conference and meeting spaces, phone and focus rooms, a mother’s room, and a pantry/break area. BCCI Construction used a professional style with inspiration from Redwood City’s logging and railroad history. Everything was complete in just two phases.

XL Construction

851 Buckeye Ct. Milpitas, CA 95035

Construction firm XL Construction uses a client-centric approach on its projects that has resulted in numerous strong client relationships. By first identifying a client’s unique needs, the firm can use delivery methods like Build Information Modeling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery in order to create a customized plan to meet these specific requirements. XL Construction has worked with clients in a wide variety of markets, including corporate, advanced technology, civic, education, healthcare, and life science.

The Assembly at North First Street, completed in North San Jose, is one of XL Construction’s projects. It is a 300,000-square-foot campus that required a complete gut of three existing tilt-up buildings. The firm added 50,000 square feet to the buildings, worked on a warm shell build-out, and installed new HVAC systems. A “connector” was constructed between two buildings, and a new lobby was cut out and rebuilt in the third building. Other features of the project include an indoor/outdoor workout area, a BBQ area, outdoor pizza ovens, outdoor fires, and a lot of seating.

DPR Construction

1450 Veterans Blvd. Redwood City, CA 94063

DPR Construction works based on its commitment to building great things. Operating in Sacramento since 1990, DPR is a self-performing contractor focused on highly complex and technical projects. The firm’s core markets include advanced technology, commercial, healthcare, higher education, and life sciences. From small tenant improvements to large-scale multi-million-dollar complexes; DPR focuses on fulfilling customer needs and providing the highest possible value.

David and Lucile Packard Foundation employed DPR to work on its corporate Headquarters in Los Altos, which is now a 49,000-square-foot, two-story wood and steel structure. Despite these being the materials used, the building’s understated and elegant design allows it to blend into the natural environment. The interior uses complex design components and design processes to achieve a net-zero energy (NZE) contribution, and DPR used a diverse range of materials—aluminum, glazing, copper panels, stone, and wood siding—to form a highly thermal-rated exterior skin. There are also energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems and photovoltaic panels that were installed in the building.

Truebeck Construction

2855 Campus Dr. Suite 100, San Mateo, CA 94403

By improving practices, it can elevate industry standards while producing inspiring spaces that reflect its dedication to determination and excellence. These values serve as guiding principles in providing clients with quality and value. The firm’s available services include preconstruction, construction technology and innovation, alternative delivery methods, self-performance, safety management, and interior design.

Homeowners have also contracted the firm for their residential projects. For such projects, Timeline Design + Build’s team is made of experienced professionals like architects, interior designers, and builders. This in-house team allows Timeline Design + Build to provide a single point of contact, which lessens the time needed to finalize everything and greatly improves communication efficiency.

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) awarded Timeline Design + Build the Contractor of the Year Award (CotY) for Residential Addition on one of the firm’s Los Gatos projects. Originally, the space was dark and segmented, but the firm added around 1,000 square feet to the living space and 300 square feet to the exterior area to open up the floor plan. The master suite was moved to the first floor, so the clients will be able to continue enjoying their home as they age. There are also new fireplace designs in the living and bedroom areas to create interesting focal points.
