San Diego is known for its mild climate and beautiful beaches. The laid-back atmosphere makes it a good place for both residents and tourists alike to relax after a hard week. Businesses also have a place to thrive here: as an emerging healthcare and biotechnology hub, San Diego offers numerous opportunities for economic growth and investment. The other top sectors in the city are related to the military, tourism, research, and manufacturing sectors.

Our editors have created a list of the best construction companies in San Diego for those who are interested in setting up in or living in the area. These firms were chosen for their knowledge of the city’s landscape and of how to build spaces that conform to the area’s characteristics while meeting unique client needs.

In its renovation of the center, Bycor added a single-story masonry building and two single-story wood frame buildings, which, together, are collectively 44,000 square feet. Bycor also demolished 38,000-square-feet’s worth of residential and retail space. The project required extensive underground utility work as well as parking lot reconfiguration.

K-CO Construction

3670 Clairemont Dr. Suite #9, San Diego, CA 92117

K-CO Construction Inc. is a general contracting firm that specializes in design-build services for custom home and residential remodeling projects. The company was founded by Dave K. Konstantin in 1995, who was later succeeded by his stepson, Chad Gardner, in 2014. Gardner uses his experience in construction and business management to guide the firm in building for the community. The core of Gardner’s leadership is fostering a business with ethics and integrity that clients can trust. K-CO is a BBB and Built It Green member.

This galley kitchen from the 1950’s underwent remodeling work after the homeowners requested K-CO to transform the area into an open-concept living space, as its original design separated the kitchen, dining room, and living room. K-CO brought down the walls in the kitchen, and the opening between the dining and living rooms was widened to improve the overall flow. The clients worked with K-CO’s designers on the layout, finishes, and color palettes. The result is a family-friendly and entertainment-ready space.
