Seattle consistently ranks among the top ten cities in the country to live. It is known for being ecologically friendly and is surrounded by lush, evergreen forests. Additionally, its citizens make above-average salaries. Seattle, the home of Nintendo, Apple, Amazon, and Facebook, also provides a sizable number of job opportunities, particularly in the tech sector.

On this list are Seattle’s best construction companies. They have a wealth of experience working locally on both commercial and residential building projects. Additionally, several awarding bodies recognized the quality of their work and services.

Schuchart

919 5th Ave. Seattle, WA 98164

Since 1988, Schuchart has specialized in creating inventive and intricate designs, always emphasizing craft and quality. The firm is a family-run business committed to working alongside its clients. It has a team with decades of construction experience and a career of commitment. Schuchart is an active member of local business and civic organizations; its employees are involved in both industry and professional associations. These associations and organizations include the Association of General Contractors (AGC), American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE), Belden Club, and Bellevue Chamber of Commerce.

The Bullitt Center won four awards, including the 2016 AIA Honor Awards Energy in Design Award and 1st Place in the 2014 Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) Beyond Green Competition. Known as the greenest office building in the world, The Bullitt Center is the first urban structure to completely meet all of its own electricity, water, and disposal needs. Engineers, architects, and contractors collaborated from the beginning of the project to limit the environmental impact of the building. The Bullitt Foundation’s new headquarters acts as a working laboratory to advance environmental consciousness in a for-profit, competitive context.

Foushee

3240 118th Ave. SE, Bellevue, WA 98005

Foushee offers specialized professional services in estimating, contracting, and construction. From the beginning of the design phase, the firm efficiently takes the lead in budget and schedule management. Foushee works with designers, award-winning artisans, and a handpicked team made up of a project manager, a supervisor, and support staff. Foushee’s team is aware that effective construction projects draw on the perspectives and skills of each team member. This enables the firm to maximize high labor performance, boost productivity, and fulfill project deadlines.

Foushee worked on this Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified project, which has two and a half levels of parking with 292 spaces totaling 88,855 square feet and three and a half levels of offices, retail, and restaurants. The post-tensioned concrete building has different floor-to-floor heights and the facade needed to contain 17 different features. According to the design review procedure, the facade’s features included a curtain wall, a storefront, architectural metal panels, brickwork, architectural poured-in-place concrete, and glass canopies. The project includes a sizable pedestrian plaza with terraces that connect the street to the university, using a blend of colored/textured pavement, planters, and street art.

GenCap Construction Corp.

100 Taylor Ave. N Suite A4, Seattle, WA 98109

With roots in the Pacific Northwest, GenCap Construction Corp. is a company of seasoned construction experts with an extensive understanding of all types of commercial projects. The company develops original construction processes that are in line with its creative and collaborative corporate culture. Warnaca understands both the private and public markets. He specializes in projects for the hotel and hospitality, mixed-use and multifamily, higher education, sports, water, and waste-water treatment, laboratory, and bioscience market sectors.

GenCap Construction Corp. continuously works to meet the needs of its clients by refusing to use one pattern and viewing each project as an opportunity to build relationships. The Pop, a mixed-use building, is an essential component of the downtown Bothell regeneration plan. The Pop could not have been located in a more lively and bustling area with Pop Keeney as its backdrop. In its exclusive 300-level amenity room—which includes a private kitchen, entertainment, and television area—guests have impressive Stadium views. Solar-powered residences at The Pop are yet another means by which GenCap Construction was able to earn LEED Gold for the project’s sustainability.

Skyline Construction

1221 4th Ave. Seattle, WA 98101

Skyline Construction is a general contractor with 100% employee ownership that specializes in large-scale commercial interior building projects. The main reception area, workstation, and production lab were all expanded as part of this tenant improvement project. Significant electrical renovations were also a part of the scope of work, which necessitated close collaboration with a nearby crucial data lab where the building’s primary electrical systems are located. Synapse’s distinguishable features include manufacturing and key data labs, enhanced electrical systems, and fitted specialty lighting.

Pathway Design & Construction

PO Box 94731 Seattle, WA 98124

Pathway Design & Construction is a company with extensive contemporary and historic home remodeling experience. With its more traditional projects, the firm creates visually pleasing spaces that are in tune with the neighboring structures and the surrounding natural environment. The firm’s designs respect the architectural authenticity of the home as well as the community. Pathway Design & Construction collaborates with clients for its contemporary projects, which are aging-in-place and universal design-focused. Each project features open spaces that are adaptable, comfortable, beautiful, and beneficial to everyone who lives there. The firm is the winner of the 2022 Guildmaster Highest Distinction Award and the 2022 Building Industry Association of Washington Excellence in Remodeling for Basement Remodel.

The Leschi Remodel is one of Pathway Design & Construction’s notable projects. Even as apartment complexes sprout up all along the street, the clients wished to maintain the exterior aspect of their Leschi beachfront home. The final design increased the space of the kitchen through considerable structural work, eliminated the literal tangle of walls, and brought attention to the wonderful lake views. The home was further improved by completing the attic area to create a craft and playroom that satisfies all of the owner’s demands. The newly renovated space now smoothly transports its viewer from the expertly planned, modern kitchen, through the wall of full-height windows, and out onto the peaceful seaside patios.

CRD Design Build

3929 Stone Way N, Seattle, WA 98103

Early in the 1990s, CDR Design Build helped establish the design-build practice in Seattle by first working with architects and then hiring them on staff. The company has a full-time internal team of skilled designers, lead carpenters, and support personnel who collaborate with clients to ensure each aspect of the home remodel surpasses customer expectations. For 40 years, the team has used its creativity, knowledge, and craftsmanship to complete each project. CDR Design is a 2018 and 2016 Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBAKS) REX Awards Winner under different whole house and remodeling categories.

The featured project involves renovating a 1980s-era, partitioned home in Seattle’s Wedgwood area. The clients decided to demolish a portion of the wall and build a unique kitchen that is accessible to the living space. The firm installed a gas fireplace and new, sizable windows that visually opened up the living area to the backyard. New wardrobes, a walk-in shower, a free-standing tub, and marble tile were added to the master suite. Porcelain patterned tiles were used to brighten up the powder room. Finally, the home’s curb appeal received a significant update with replacement garage doors, porch handrail, and eye-catching cedar shiplap roofing. The guest bathroom in the basement was also renovated.

Prestige Residential Construction

1200 S Angelo St. Suite A, Seattle, WA 98108

Since 1981, Prestige Residential Construction has collaborated with homeowners and industry experts in design to create residential projects. Prestige made significant changes to this historic 1915 North Capitol Hill home, including remodeling the master suite. The firm focused on creating a conventional yet rich master bathroom that featured a vaulted ceiling with a custom glass skylight. The previously unutilized attic space was structurally altered and is now a spacious, vaulted-ceiling apartment. Finally, a newly constructed conventional staircase that integrates perfectly with the existing architectural features of the house now leads to the new attic suite.
