It was established by lead principal Robert Sweet and ever since then, its skills and abilities have earned recognition from magazines like Architect, Dwell, LA Times, Architectural Digest, Wall Street Journal, and Residential Architect. Among its many eye-catching projects, one of its most notable is the Walk-Street House. A two-story, 2,110-square-foot home, this residence was recognized with the 2019 AIA Honor Award and the RADA Honorable mention. It gets its name from its location, which fronts a pedestrian-only street in Hermosa Beach. A mechanical, two-car stacker parking lift was also installed in the garage to prevent cars from crowding the street. Though the home is snug in a 30 foot by 70 foot lot, it has an open plan, large openings, and natural ventilation. Another one of its many notable features is a 27-foot long pocket sliding door that opens from the living, dining, and kitchen areas to a patio running the length of the lot.


Rockefeller Kempel Architects

Established in 2002, Rockefeller Kempel Architects has been featured in several publications, such as Luxe, Sunset Magazine, Travel + Leisure, South Bay Magazine, Coastal Living Details, and Forbes Life. The firm has also received a plethora of awards, including the 2018 Gold Nugget Award and the 2019 USGBC-LA Sustainable Innovation Award.
